Serafini & Vidotto Phigaia After the Red 2019

LOOP LINE TASTING NOTES | An elegant Super-Tuscan inspired wine from Veneto. Softer than it's more southerly counterpart. Ruby red, bright. The nose is intense, rich in fruity notes of black cherries, sour cherries, black currants. Followed by hints of flowers, medicinal herbs, coffee and licorice. It is an elegantly structured and enveloping wine. The soft tannins are perfectly integrated. The finish is long and persistent, we find the hints of fruit, licorice, coffee. 

If you love Bordeaux-inspired reds, Serafini & Vidotto's Phigaia will be right up your alley. The winery is located in Montello-Colli Asolani DOC in Veneto, in north-eastern Italy. It was founded in 1986 by winemaking friends Francesco Serafini and Antonello Vidotto, but the grape-growing history of the land stretches back hundreds of years. In particular, the region has always been famed for their red wines, and one sip of Phigaia will show you why. Careful farming is at the heart of everything that Serafini & Vidotto do, and yields are kept low to ensure high quality - the average output is only about one bottle per vine. After fermentation, the final blend is aged for anywhere from 12-18 months in oak.
