Villa di Capezzana "10 Anni" 2013

LOOP LINE TASTING NOTES | The 2013 Villa di Capezzana "10 Anni" is a distinguished expression of Carmignano DOCG, crafted by the Contini Bonacossi family at Tenuta di Capezzana. This wine is part of the estate's "Historic Reserve" project, wherein 3,000 bottles are set aside annually to age for a decade in the estate's historic cellar before release, showcasing the remarkable aging potential of Carmignano wines. 

Comprising 80% Sangiovese and 20% Cabernet Sauvignon, the 2013 vintage underwent fermentation in steel tanks, followed by malolactic fermentation in French oak tonneaux. The wine was then aged for 12 months in a combination of French tonneaux and large oak barrels, and further refined in bottle for at least another year.

In the glass, it presents an intense ruby red color. The nose is elegant, offering notes of sour cherry and raspberry well blended with ripe fruit. On the palate, it is soft and enveloping, with soft tannins and good body. Acidity is present but well balanced by the tannic richness, leading to a long finish with an aftertaste tending towards sweet licorice.
